hidden com module causing outlook to create a popup error on launch

Problem
error message on outlook load stating there was a problem with a com module, which then could not be found referenced anywhere

Reason:
Someone has copied the .extended file in the outlook folder, which has references to invalid information.

Solution:
find the extended data file in the hidden folder %userprofile%\appplication data\local\microsoft\outlook or %userprofile%\application data\roaming\microsoft\outlook

rename the extension to .old or (re)move it the file. Outlook should rebuild correctly the next time it loads.

note: do not remove a pst or ost.
